LOVE IT CLEAN

LOVE IT CLEAN

Love it Clean is our contribution to making not only homes a cleaner place – but also the environment.

Addressing industrial and consumer waste is one of the most important environmental issues. Our oceans, agriculture and quality of life ultimately depend on how businesses and consumers address the human impact on earth. Waste in the environment is a global issue that requires action. As a manufacturer of world-renowned cleaning brands we have a responsibility to preserve our planet for future generations.

We will continue to make the Earth a cleaner place by reducing our environmental footprint. All along the life cycle of of our products - from raw material sourcing to disposal - we consider environmental criteria as key measures for our future company success - while always striving to improve our excellent product performance.

We focus on three main areas where we believe we can make the biggest difference – by creating products that last, by giving materials a second life and designing out waste.

Karin Overbeck, CEO

“Making our economy sustainable is not a coincidence, but the direct result of actions we take – as companies and consumers.  We can be proud of our achievements to date.  Our durable products help save waste, while delivering excellent product performance.  In recent years we continuously increased use of recycled plastics in our solid plastic products from 15 to over 40 percent.  Nearly all our plastic packaging is recyclable.  But we have a responsibility to continuously improve and make a difference where we can.  That is why we founded our corporate initiative Love It Clean, which embodies our core belief that we have a responsibility for future generations.  For the upcoming years we are dedicated to achieving ambitious goals, and we are a signatory of the Ellen MacArthur Foundation‘s New Plastics Economy Global Commitment.  Because we believe that in sustainability less is more, we want to continue reducing waste, fostering sustainable packaging, designing out virgin plastic and focus on what we do best: Creating high quality products that last.”

WE GIVE MATERIALS A SECOND LIFE

Recycling and recyclability are key factors in keeping as much raw material as possible in the circular economy. By using recycled plastic we save valuable raw material from being scrapped, never to be used again. We have continuously increased the amount of recycled material in our products. Today, over 40% of the solid plastic parts used in our cleaning products are made with recycled material. And we continue to work on new technologies and methods to give more plastic a second life as a high quality Vileda product. Using recycled material saves waste. But what about future products? For plastic to reenter the circular economy after it has been used, it needs to be separated, broken down and recycled. The purer the plastic, the better it is for the recycling process. That is why we make our plastic packaging out of 100% recyclable Polypropylene / Polyethylene packaging.

For corrugate packaging we use material out of up to 100% recycled packaging waste.

RECYCLED PET IN BROOMS: Since 2005, bristles in most of our brooms have been made from recycled polyester taken from used bottle chips. We reduce the content of virgin raw material and we ensure, that the bristles are firmly anchored to the frame, compared to traditional bristles.

WE DESIGN OUT WASTE
AND HARMFUL SUBSTANCES

WE DESIGN OUT WASTE
AND HARMFUL SUBSTANCES

We design out waste from the beginning. What does this mean? With every new innovation we search for ways to design out waste and harmful substances.

Our Vileda and Wettex sponge cloths are 100% compostable & biodegradable in 8 weeks – while being washeble and reusable. We manufacture our products in Sweden out of cellulose wood-pulp raw materials.

REDUCE materials through redesign and innovation | 5.000 t CO² saved.

As a company already in the 90s we decided to keep our packaging free of PVC.

We constantly strive to minimise the amount of packaging material we use. We have developed a holistic approach that considers packaging performance and environmental impact across the supply chain. We take new, innovative packaging materials into account that help to reduce the impact on the environment.

STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® is one of the world‘s best-known labels for textiles tested for harmful substances. Often, the limits set for the STANDARD 100 exceed national and international requirements. Many of our textile floor cleaning products & cloths are certified according to OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100. This confirms: our products have been tested for harmful substances and are safe in terms of human ecology.

We use a unique technology to reduce the content of virgin raw material in a variety of brooms. This makes the broom head lighter and allows us to save plastic. Also, a variety of our products are certified by Plastica Seconda Vita.

WE CREATE PRODUCTS THAT LAST

WE CREATE PRODUCTS THAT LAST

The longer you use our durable products, the better for the environment. That is because every time you reuse them, you are keeping one less product out of the waste system. We not only encourage our customers to keep and reuse their Vileda products, we design them to last.

Our long-lasting, washable products keep your home and your conscience clean.

Our durable products help reduce the amount of disposable waste. Most of our microfibre refills last more than two years. Even if you wash them regularly.

Our high quality refills with their powerful microfibre reduce the amount of chemical agents necessary for a thorough clean and they even remove 99% of bacteria - just with water.
